Building a Nuclear Safety Authority: UAE
Dr. Daniele Giuffrida, manager of Radiation Protection at FANR, the Nuclear Safety Authority of the United Arab Emirates, offered a brilliant lecture on “Challenges and success in the development of the United Arab Emirates’ nuclear programme” at POLIMI on Nov. 6, 2020.
The seminar was organised within the “Introduction to Nuclear Engineering” course.

Daniele Giuffrida graduated in Nuclear Engineering at Polimi in 1996.
He started his career at the neutronics division in Framatome, Areva, in Lyon.
He worked in decommissioning and waste management with Onectra, namely on a project with the JRC Ispra, Italy. He served as civil servant of the European Commission from 2002 to 2014, and he was the Qualified Expert and the Head of the Radiation Protection Sector at the JRC ISPRA. He works since 2014 for the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, FANR, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
